Winter
The north is in winter overpowered from freezing temperatures allowing for white powdered landscapes with deep frozen lakes and a beautiful, tranquil atmosphere. With a little bit of luck are the northern lights also visible. There is a wide range of activities available here in winter to take part in. From husky sledding, ice fishing, Nordic skiing, snowmobile tours to watching the night sky in the warm Badtunna or just reading a book in the cosy chalet.
husky sledding tours
Travelling through snowy forests and over frozen lakes is an unmissable experience. A rapturous start filled with excited cries from the Huskies will be followed by the stillness of the forest accompanied by the panting of the Huskies as they pull the sled through the snow. We offer half-day tours covering approximately 20-25km. A team of 3-5 highly motivated Huskies will pull each Sled. In order to ensure an enjoyable, memorable experience warm nordic boots and winter jackets are included in our offer.
snowmobil
We offer guided Skidoo tours. Our Guide is a native from Drevdageb and has a vast amount of local knowledge about the local nature, animals and Fjälls. He knows the locations of the local bear caves, feeding areas of the Elk, Eagles nests and the playgrounds of the woodland grouse. Allow yourself to be guided through the beautiful landscapes of the fjälls on your very own skidoo.
icefishing
There is a more than healthy fish population in the numerous lakes around Drevdagen. With a little bit of luck you can catch yourself pike, röding or perch. Ice fishing is an unique experience. After drilling numerous ice holes on the lake and placing the small baited fishing rods and then we wait for the fish to bite. Another local technique is the so-called Angeldon technique. We lay baitfish on small hooks and place them simultaneously in the iceholes. On a good day, with a little luck can you enjoy a delicious dinner of fish that same evening.
cross-country skiing
There is large nordic skipiste network in Idrefjäll, roughly 30 kilometers from Drevdagen. You can also enjoy a morning of Nordic skiing starting directly at the lake. It requires a little more coordination as there isn’t a prepared piste network. An alternative is however to harness up one or two huskies and enjoy an hour or two of so-called Skijöring.
winterhiking with huskies
For guests who do not feel confident enough to take part in a husky tour as a Musher or as an alternative by bad weather conditions, we offer a guided winter hike with the huskies. After a short meet and greet with the Huskies, the hike starts directly by the house and we set off on a 1.5 – 2 hour hike in the local surroundings. Upon our return we will enjoy a coffee and snack in either the cosy lounge or outside around the fire.
